Ecotourism can be achieved only if steps are taken in the right directions. In 1993, British Airways led the way as the first airline to implement a systematic environmental policy. The International Hotels Environment Initiative (THEI) has more than 5000 members from 111 countries. In cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program and the International Hotel and Restaurant Association, the IHEI developed an 'Environmental Action Pack for Hotels' in 1995 to promote environmental management, energy and water conservation, and waste and emission reduction In 1996, the World Tourism Organization, the World Travel and Tourism Council, and the Earth Summit Council drafted Agenda 21 for the Travel and Tourism Industry recognizing interdependence of Tourism, peace, development and environmental protection. Passive Voice( কর্মবাচ্য ): কোন Sentence এ যদি Subject কে দিয়ে কোন কাজ করানো হয় বুঝায় তখন তাকে Passive Voice বলে ।

যেমন :

Rice Is eaten by me.

A letter is written by him.

A book is read by Fateha.

Football is being played by us.

Passive Voice (কর্মবাচ্য) হলো বাক্যের এমন একটি রূপ যেখানে Subject বা কর্তা সরাসরি নিজে কাজ না করে বরং Object বা কর্মের ওপর কাজের ফলাফল এসে পড়ে। অর্থাৎ, এখানে কাজটির চেয়ে কর্মটিই বেশি প্রাধান্য পায়। ইংরেজি গ্রামারে সঠিক বাচনভঙ্গি এবং প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক রচনার জন্য ভয়েস চেঞ্জ অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটি অধ্যায়। একটি সাধারণ বাক্যকে প্যাসিভ করার মূল ভিত্তি হলো Object-কে Subject করা এবং মূল Verb-এর সর্বদা Past Participle (V3) রূপ ব্যবহার করা।

১. সাধারণ গঠনের নিয়ম (Basic Rules)

অ্যাক্টিভ থেকে প্যাসিভ ভয়েসে রূপান্তরের জন্য নিচের পাঁচটি ধাপ অনুসরণ করতে হয়:

  1. Active Voice-এর Object-টি Passive Voice-এর Subject হয়।

  2. Tense এবং Subject-এর পারসন অনুযায়ী Auxiliary Verb (সাহায্যকারী ক্রিয়া) বসে।

  3. মূল Verb-এর Past Participle (V3) রূপ বসে।

  4. সাধারণত একটি 'by' প্রিপজিশন বসে (কিছু ক্ষেত্রে to, at, with, in হতে পারে)।

  5. Active Voice-এর Subject-টি Passive Voice-এর Object হয়।

৩. বিশেষ কিছু নিয়মের রূপান্তর

ক) Imperative Sentence (আদেশ/অনুরোধ):

ইম্পারেটিভ সেন্টেন্স প্যাসিভ করার সময় বাক্যটি 'Let' দিয়ে শুরু করতে হয়।

  • Active: Do the work.

  • Passive: Let the work be done.

  • Active: Do not shut the door.

  • Passive: Let not the door be shut.

খ) Modal Auxiliaries (can, could, may, must, should):

মডাল ভার্ব যুক্ত বাক্যে প্যাসিভ করার সময় মডাল-এর সাথে কেবল একটি 'be' যুক্ত হয়।

  • Active: I can do it.

  • Passive: It can be done by me.

  • Active: You must obey your parents.

  • Passive: Your parents must be obeyed by you.

গ) Double Object যুক্ত বাক্য:

যদি বাক্যে দুটি অবজেক্ট থাকে, তবে যেকোনো একটিকে সাবজেক্ট করা যায় (ব্যক্তিবাচক অবজেক্টটি নেওয়া শ্রেয়)।

  • Active: He gave me a pen.

  • Passive: I was given a pen by him. (অথবা: A pen was given to me by him.)

ঘ) Interrogative Sentence (প্রশ্নবোধক):

প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্য প্যাসিভ করার সময় সাহায্যকারী ক্রিয়াটি বাক্যের শুরুতে বসে এবং শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন (?) বজায় থাকে। 'Who' থাকলে প্যাসিভ-এ 'By whom' এবং 'Whom' থাকলে 'Who' বসে।
